Classes Scheduled Are:
Creative Movement, Pre-Dance, Ballet I - Ballet IV, Pointe, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop and Yoga.
Creative Movement (Ages 3-5)
During this class, children will develop self-confidence and enthusiasm for dance, while learning the basic
positions and movements of classical ballet. Creative movement classes are an enjoyable way for young children
to develop their physical skills, channel their energy, stimulate their imagination and promote their creativity.

Ballet I (Ages 8-9)
Ballet I will provide students with an understanding of the fundamental principles of classical ballet technique.
Ballet vocabulary and basic anatomy will be presented, as well as an introduction to music theory and dance history.
The students should be prepared for Ballet level II with the knowledge of all the basic ballet positions and movements.
Ballet II and Pre-Pointe (Ages 10-11)
Ballet II and Pre-Pointe class is designed for students at an intermediate level who are preparing for pointe work in the
future. Students must be at least 10 years of age to attend this class. Pre-pointe is a pre-requisite class for Beginner
Pointe. This class, along with two Ballet Technique classes, must be taken each week, the year before a student can be
considered for pointe work. The class focuses on strengthening the feet and ankles, as well as lengthening the legs for
proper placement on releve. The curriculum of the Ballet II class will be reiterated during the Pre-Pointe class.

Teen Ballet (Ages 12-17)
Teen Ballet will provide students with an understanding of the fundamental principles of classical ballet technique.
Ballet vocabulary and basic anatomy will be presented, as well as music theory and dance history. The class will consist
of a basic ballet barre, and center exercises. This class is suitable for beginner/intermediate level students.
Adult Ballet (18 and up)
Adult Ballet will provide students with an understanding of the fundamental principles of classical ballet technique.
Ballet vocabulary and basic anatomy will be presented, as well as music theory and dance history. The class will consist
of a basic ballet barre, and center exercises. This class is suitable for adults of all ages and abilities. It will be a
beginner-intermediate level class.
Teen Yoga (13-17)
Teen Yoga introduces basic yoga poses and breathing techniques. Students will gain strength and flexibility as they flow through a series of poses. A relaxation period at the end of class will be perfect for any teen needing to de-stress.
Adult Yoga (18 and up)
Adult Yoga provides a gentle and continuous workout for any level. Students will learn basic poses and breathing techniques in the Vinyasa style of yoga. A great way for busy parents to relax!
Introduction to Modern (10-11)
Introduction To Modern Dance will provide students the basics of modern and contemporary dance while developing their creativity and artistry. Students will begin working in parallel positions and learn the fundamentals of contract and release (Martha Graham), fall and recovery (Doris Humprey), release technique (Trisha Brown), and basic floor work.
Intermediate Modern (12-14)
Intermediate Modern Dance will continue with the basics of Introduction To Modern with increased focus on technique. In addition, students will begin to explore improvisation and composition.
Advanced Modern (15 and up) Depending upon ability
Advanced Modern Dance will provide students with a greater opportunity to challenge themselves both physically and mentally. The current trends of Modern dance today are increasingly influenced by martial arts and yoga. Students will be utilizing upper body strength and will be introduced to contact improvisation and exploring new composition methods.
Introduction to Jazz (10-11)
New students to this art form will learn certain qualities that define jazz dance such as rhythmical variations, syncopation, and phrasing. Jazz dance also teaches style, flexibility, isolations, and introduces a variety of basic kicks, leaps and turns. This class will explore many styles, characteristics, and techniques of jazz dance.
Intermediate Jazz (12-14)
Students will learn more about the history and evolution of jazz dance as we know it today. This class will continue building on the technique learned in “Intro to Jazz” and students will start to explore more classical jazz as well as lyrical jazz. Emphasis will be placed on developing rhythmic awareness, individual expression and the use of the body as rhythmic percussive instrument.
Advanced Jazz (15 and up) Depending upon ability
A continuation of our intermediate jazz classes for students with a firm grasp on jazz dance fundamentals. This class will work on advanced level leaps, jumps and turns, freestyle improvisations, and performance quality. This class will also explore classical jazz, lyrical jazz and musical theatre jazz styles.
Teen/Adult Jazz (13 and up)
This class is a combination of the “Intro to Jazz” and “Intermediate Jazz” level. This level is for the beginner that is older, mature and more coordinated than a younger beginner and may have had other dance training in the past. Students will also learn style, flexibility, isolations, and a variety of kicks, leaps and turns. This class will explore different characteristics, and techniques of jazz dance in many different styles.
Tap I (8-11)
Tap dance was developed in the U. S. during the nineteenth century, and is now an American theatrical dance that is popular all over the world. Using precise rhythmical patterns of foot movement and audible foot tapping, it develops a finely tuned sense of rhythm and musicality for the student. It improves muscle control, balance and strength in legs, ankles and feet. This class covers basic tap technique, variations, and performance skills through a series of tap combinations and choreography.
Tap II (12-14)
A continuation of “Tap I” class for students that will learn different styles of tap and combinations that will focus on precise steps and foot articulation, rhythmic awareness, and layering. Students will also be given interactive tap combinations designed to develop partnering skills. This class also explores a wide variety of musical styles, intricate rhythms, challenging combinations, and fast footwork.
Hip-Hop I (12-14)
This high energy dance style has gained popularity in recent years and is enjoyed by both boys and girls who want to learn urban dance steps using the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music. Hip hop encompasses movement that has elements of poppin', locking, and breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. Elements for this class will include proper conditioning and warm-up, individualized dance steps and full-bodied combinations.
Hip-Hop II (15 and up) Depending upon ability
Is designed for dancers with an understanding of Hip Hop dancing and its movements. The Dancers are challenged with increasing complexity in movement and skills. Classes will emphasize bringing style and personality to the movement, a higher level of difficulty in combinations and mastering the dance as an art form.
Creative Movement
(Ages 3-5) During this class, children will develop self-confidence and enthusiasm for dance, while learning
the basic positions and movements of classical ballet. Creative movement classes are an enjoyable way for young
children to develop their physical skills, channel their energy, stimulate their imagination and promote their
creativity. A song and dance will be taught to the children to perform at the end of the year.
Ballet/Jazz Combination
(Ages 6-10) This class is perfect for children who would like to try more than one form of dance. Combination
classes are considered preparatory dance classes. Introduction to the ballet syllabus will begin and jazz technique
will be introduced. Children will learn a choreographed routine for both ballet and jazz and will perform their routines
for the school at the end of year.
Beginner/Intermediate Ballet
(Ages11-Adult) Ballet I will provide students with an understanding of the fundamental principles of classical
ballet technique. Ballet vocabulary and basic anatomy will be presented, as well as an introduction to music theory
and dance history. Students will be taught a basic ballet barre, center exercises and a choreographed ballet routine
for the students to perform at the end of the year. The students should be prepared for Ballet level II with the knowledge
of all the basic ballet positions and movements.
Jazz/Hip-Hop Combination
(Ages 11-Adult) The Jazz/Hip-Hop combination class will enhance the students’ knowledge of jazz technique and
introduce today’s newest dance sensation of hip-hop choreography. The class will begin with a full jazz warm-up and continue
with across the floor exercises. A choreographed hip-hop routine will be taught to the students for performance purposes at
the end of the year.
Note: It is recommended that serious student’s ages 11-Adult are enrolled in both Ballet I and the Jazz/Hip-hop
Combination class. As a dancer, it is important to be well rounded in many different forms of dance to succeed.
