Lindsay Clark

Mrs. Lindsay Clark is the Director of the Tampa Bay Ballet, a pre-professional ballet school, and Tampa Ballet Theatre, the schools affiliated professional ballet company. Mrs. Clark began her dance studies at Fletcher School of Dance in Asheville, N.C. and at age 10 studied with the Boston Ballet Children's Summer Workshop. At age 13, she became a company member of Greenville Ballet. There, she performed many soloist roles in Andrew Kuharsky's ballets including the “Dew Drop” from “The Nutcracker”. Lindsay continued to dance with the company for three years and during the summers she attended the School of American Ballet (SAB) program in N.Y.C. In 1995, Lindsay was accepted and studied at of the North Carolina School of the Arts (NCSA) During this time, she had the pleasure of working with notable instructors and choreographers such as Melissa Hayden, Nina Danilova, Susan McCullough, Melinda Lawrence, Duncan Noble, Frank Smith, Gyula Pandi, Fanchon Cordell, Gina Vidal, Warren Conover, Mark Dendy and Robert Lindgren. She danced in many classical, neo-classical and contemporary ballets including “La Bayadere”, “The Nutcracker”, “Who Cares” and “Symmetries”. After graduation, Lindsay continued her studies with the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) in N.Y.C. and in 1998 she began dancing professionally with the North Carolina Dance Theatre in their production of George Balanchine's “Serenade”. During her tenure with NCDT Lindsay studied with Jean Pierre Bonnefoux, Patricia McBride and Jerri Kumrey. She later returned to Asheville, N.C. to begin her teaching career continuing to perform professionally.

Since the introduction of the Tampa Bay Ballet, Mrs. Clark continues to promote the growth and knowledge of dance through lecture, instruction, choreography and performances. Tampa Bay Ballet has performed many classical, neoclassical and original modern works since the debut performance of "An Evening at the Ballet" in March of 2008. Her choreography has been presented for the Four Days of Dance Festival as well as Oktoberfest, Earth Day Festival, The New Seeds Festival, Freedom Fest, The Pinellas County Opera League, Studio 10 News (live broadcast) and numerous charitable events for the city of Oldsmar. In December 2009, Mrs. Clark choreographed, directed and performed in Tampa Bay Ballet's first full length ballet "The Nutcracker". In the spring of 2011, Mrs. Clark directed the restaging of Marius Petipa’s infamous ballet, “Sleeping Beauty”. In addition to directing the Tampa Bay Ballet, and Tampa Ballet Theatre, Lindsay Clark is the founding President of the Board of Directors for the Tampa Ballet Theatre Company.

Miranda Heitz

Mrs. Miranda Heitz has been teaching Preschool through Adult in Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, (Contemporary), and Hip Hop for the past 14 years. She was a dance major at Ball State University and has choreographed Theater productions, High school dance teams, many Competition Companies and Drum-lines and has been the choreography judge for Show Choir Competitions in the mid-west. She received her training from many schools. Some including The Fort Wayne Ballet and The Ft. Wayne Dance Collective. She also obtained her Royal Academy of Dance certificate from TC Dance School of Performing Arts and was awarded "Highly Commended" on her exams. Her students and soloists have gone on to perform and dance in companies, on cruise ships, or have become teachers themselves. Her students have also competed in many national competitions winning numerous first place, high point and special awards. She recently was cast as "The Queen of Hearts" in Tampa Bay Ballet's "Alice in Wonderland", "The Rat King" in "The Nutcracker", and "Carabosse" in "Sleeping Beauty". Mrs. Heitz is a welcome addition to the faculty of Tampa Bay Ballet and a founding member of the Company.

Heidi Strohl

Heidi Strohl, a native of Winston-Salem, NC, is a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts, where she trained for 9 years. She also studied at many summer sessions, including Pacific Northwest Ballet, Joffery Ballet, and the Hungarian Ballet Academy in Budapest.

In her professional career of ten years, she has danced with Charleston Ballet Theatre (SC), Greensboro Ballet (NC), Northern Ballet Theatre (NH), Burklyn Ballet Theatre (VT), Kim Robards Dance (CO), Paradise Ballet Theatre (FL), and Gleich Dances (NY). In 2002, she performed as the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. Other favorite roles include Lucy in Dracula, Odette in Swan Lake, and the principal role in Paquita.

Heidi has been a faculty member, teaching ballet and pointe, in the schools of Greensboro Ballet, Northern Ballet Theatre, and Adagio Dance Academy. She is also a trained yoga instructor and will be introducing yoga to the students of Tampa Bay Ballet. Heidi is excited to be a part of Tampa Bay Ballet in its first year.

Dana Snell

Dana’s commitment to dance began with high school musical theater at right here in Tampa, FL. Along with her studies in acrobatics and hip hop at All American Dance Factory, Dana developed a deep sense of respect for the arts during these teen years. She continued dancing throughout her years at Hillsborough Community College and the University of South Florida.

Dana’s training has included Jazz, Hip Hop, Afro-Caribbean, Middle Eastern, Ballet, Acrobatics, Improvisation, Musical Theater, and Interpretive dance as well as pilates and yoga. In college, she narrowed her focus to Modern dance as a Dance Studies major and Technical Theater minor.

Dana has studied and performed under such dance artists as John Parks (Alvin Ailey Company), Janis Brenner, Gretchen Ward Warren, and Carolina Garcia (Urban Bush Women), as well as DeMario Henry (VYB Dance). She has also performed at the Express Your Worship Conferences in Tampa, Detroit, and London in addition to productions of Off Stage Dance & Theatre Company, Salerno Musical Theatre Company, Tampa Bay Ballet, and Shoes at the Door Modern Company. She has been seen in many community events such as Four Days of Dance and Tampa Bay’s New Seeds Festival.

Dana currently performs with Tampa Bay Ballet and Shoes at the Door. She is so delighted to be teaching our pre-professional students modern dance technique this year.

Tammy Spain

Tammy Spain has studied ballet, modern and jazz since the age of 7. For 17 years, Tammy studied in Honolulu, Hawaii with the Honolulu City Ballet and Punahou Dance School (under the direction of Charlys Ing), Danceworks (under the direction of Broadway’s Simeon Den and Marie Takazawa) and at the University of Hawaii (where she had the privilege to study with Alaine Haubert). Tammy received a dance scholarship to attend the University of Hawaii, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology. While attending the University of Hawaii, Tammy performed professionally with various dance companies and productions in Waikiki, including the Starlight Express Dance Company, the Nohelani Cypriano Show and Navatek Cruises. During this time, Tammy also began teaching professionally, and established a dance program for youngsters (ages 4-12) at the Kaneohe Recreation Center to serve some of the more rural parts of Oahu. Tammy then left Hawaii to attend graduate school at Yale University in a biological science program and continued her studies in ballet with the Yale Recreational Dance Program. Tammy also continued to pursue her interest in teaching children by working with the inner city youth of New Haven, both in dance and science outreach programs (ages 11-13). After graduating, Tammy moved to Florida to start a family, pursue her career as a scientist and continue studying dance, as well as teaching and performing. Theater performances, over the years, include numerous productions of The Nutcracker, leading in the Spanish, Marzipan and Russian roles, Swan Lake as one of the Four Cignettes in their pas de quatre, Sleeping Beauty as Red Riding Hood, the Graduation Ball and numerous classical, neoclassical, contemporary and modern concerts in Hawaii and Florida. Tammy lives in Oldsmar with her husband, Tim, and daughter, Daly.

Sarah Metzler

Sarah Metzler, born in Valparaiso, Indiana, began dancing at the age of six with Tracy Petruska Brumley at a local studio. Upon her relocation to Florida, she continued her training with Dan Deal of the Florida Ballet School, under the direction of Roni Wright and Mary Devine. In 2006 Sarah trained at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City as a trainee for one year, and later was invited to be a trainee with the Sarasota Ballet on scholarship. She then attended the University of South Florida in 2008, and danced the soloist role in Tarantella, and a soloist role in a contemporary work choreographed by Rick McCollough. During this time she also trained at Tampa Bay Ballet with Lindsay Clark and Richard Geiger, during TBB’s first year of operation.

Sarah then danced professionally with the Ballet Theatre of Maryland for two seasons. Some of her favorite roles danced there include Ghost Waltz couples in Beauty and the Beast, Arabian demi-soloist in The Nutcracker, and Peacock demi-soloist in Alice in Wonderland. Sarah has returned to teach and dance at TBB and is excited to be dancing in Tampa Ballet Theatre’s premiere season.
