POLICIES

2019-2020 SESSION

The Tampa Bay Ballet 2019-2020 Session is from August 19th, 2019-May 29th, 2020. TBB will be closed the following dates: Labor Day (Monday, September 2nd), Thanksgiving Break (Thursday, November 28th-Friday, November29th), Winter Break (Wednesday, December 18th-Sunday, January 5th), Spring Break (Saturday, March 14th-Sunday, March 22nd, 2020), and Memorial Day (Monday, May 25th, 2020).

 

REGISTRATION & TUITION

The nonrefundable registration fee is $35 per studentand is capped at $60 per immediate family within the same household. First and last month are due upon registration.  Student/Parent must register for the monthly automatic payment program wherein tuition for the upcoming month will be automatically charged to a credit/debit card on the 15th of each month. If the credit card or bank draft is declined for any reason a $15 late fee will be assessed. Tuition is not prorated or refunded for any months. Tuition cannot be transferred to another student/family member.  All adult (18+) students will be utilizing a punch card for their classes. Each class is one punch on the class card. It is the student’s responsibility to remember their punch card for each class.  If a student forgets their punch card they will not be admitted into class or must pay the drop-in rate. No refunds are offered for class cards.

PHOTO IDENTIFICATION

Adult students are required to present a valid photo ID (Drivers License or State of Florida ID) at the time of registration. A photocopy of this ID will be kept on file at TBB.

AGE REQUIREMENT & CLASS PLACEMENT

Classes are available for students ages 3 (as of August 19th, 2019) through adult and at all skill levels. For new students, attending a placement class is required for Ballet I or higher. The admission requirement is teacher approval for the class.  Please see our registration page for more information.

DRESS CODE: UNIFORM & ATTIRE

Tampa Bay Ballet has a level specific dress code.  We require that all students must be in uniform to participate in class. This enables the instructors to see the whole body for proper alignment and correction. 

 

Level-specific uniforms are available for purchase from an office administrator and are required to be purchased from Tampa Bay Ballet.   Hair should be securely pulled back in bun and NO jewelry.  Adult students may wear appropriate dancewear with ballet slippers.  


Please be sure that your child is coming to class prepared.

  • Creative Movement through Ballet IV:  must wear their level specific leotard (must be correct brand and style, not just correct color), pink tights, pink ballet slippers, and hair MUST be in a bun that does not fall out.

  • Character: must have level leotard, black character shoes, and a black character skirt. 

  • Jazz: must have level leotard, black shorts and black jazz shoes.

  • Modern: must have level leotard and black leggings. Bare feet.

  • Men and Boys: must wear White Body Wrappers Snug Tunic, Black Wear Moi Footed Tights, and Black ballet slippers. 

  • Adult students: may wear any comfortable and tight fitting clothes with ballet slippers with no bare mid-drifts. 

  • Trainee: can wear any approved style of black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers, and hair in a secure bun.  Please see the office for list of approved leotards.

 

If a student is not in uniform it is the teachers' discretion if they ask student to leave to fix uniform, take class with uniform incorrect, or observe class that day. 
 

CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE

Students must arrive on time and dressed appropriately to participate in class, if they are more than 15 minutes late they may be asked to observe the remainder of the class.  Each student must participate in every class for the entire duration and must refrain from excessive absences as it interferes with the development of the body.  Permission must be requested from the teacher in advance if a student must leave early.  

 

Cover ups must be worn when entering/exiting the studio and minors must be escorted by a parent/legal guardian. TBB teachers and staff are not responsible for students before and after class.  Gum, Food, Jewelry, Toys, and Drinks besides water are not allowed in class.  Students who are disruptive to the class may be asked to observe the remainder of the class or to leave. 

PLESE DO NOT WALK STRAIGHT ACROSS MIDDLE OF DANCE FLOOR IN STREET SHOES.  Please use the perimeters of floor to walk across if in street shoes. 

WAITING AREAS ETIQUETTE

There is a sitting area near the studio entrance and a waiting area at the back of the studio.  These areas are quiet spaces for parents to wait while their children are dancing. TBB is not responsible for watching or entertaining other children.  Parents and students are expected to respect TBB teachers and staff, other students, and other parents. Please limit conversations (NO cell phone calls please)  Any violations of these rules will result in the violator being asked to leave.

ATTENDANCE & MAKEUP POLICY

Students will attend classes regularly and refrain from excessive absences. If the studio is closed (dates listed above) NO make-up classes will be given. If a class is cancelled or a student cannot make it to a class they are registered for they may have a make-up class. A student can make up in any class that is within their approved level. You must notify the TBB office in advance for approval. Should a student become injured, they are strongly encouraged to still come to class and observe.  You may take a make-up class prior to the date you will be missing. Make-up classes must be redeemed by May 29th, 2020 or they will be forfeited.

 

WITHDRAWAL POLICY

To withdraw from any TBB class(es), a withdrawal form (supplied via TBB Office) must be completed by a parent and turned into a TBB office administrator by the 10th of the month to terminate future tuition obligations. There are no refunds for monies already paid.

REFUND POLICY

TBB does not give any refunds for any reason. By the discretion of a TBB office administrator, a store credit may be applied to your account. A TBB office administrator has the right to determine if you are eligible for store credit or not. Tuition cannot be transferred to a different student/family member.

 

PHOTO AND VIDEO RELEASE

ONLY authorized members of Tampa Bay Ballet or Tampa Ballet Theatre management and the company are allowed to photograph and/or videotape rehearsals or class unless authorized by the Director, Ballet Mistress/Company Manager or Operations Manager.  

COMMUNICATIONS

Tampa Bay Ballet’s main form of communication is email. It is the parents’ responsibility to provide a correct email address. Please make sure to accept group emails and check spam if necessary. Emails come from either the Operations Manager or info.tampabayballet@gmail.com
